Q: Why is the rotating base hard to rotate?
A: It’s always a lot easier to rotate the base if you have two people, or something to hold on to, where you can use a little leverage. If you haven’t used it for a season (or if we’ve just sent a new one), sometimes you just have to “pop it loose” - use more force than normal to get it moving again - which is normal. The more you use it, the easier it is to rotate.
Q: Is there maintenance I should be doing to the rotating base?
A: Grease can be added from the underside of the rotating base if it becomes hard to turn, but we don't recommend it unless it becomes hard to turn.
Q: Can I loosen the set screw below the foot pedal on the rotating base to make it easier to swivel the umbrella?
A: Yes, you can loosen it a bit if it’s been tightened too much at the factory. We recommend loosening it a little at a time and testing the swivel each time to avoid loosening it too much.
Q: Can I bolt the rotating base directly to the deck?
A: Yes. Just make sure to reinforce underneath to make sure that all bolts are going into the substructure of the deck. If it’s being bolted into wood, use 3.5” lag bolts. If it’s being bolted to concrete, use 3.5” concrete expansion bolts.
Q: Where do you get the pavers for the umbrellas?
A: We get them from Klier Nursery in Richfield MN. You can use 18x18 or 20x20 stones.
Q: Can I mount the cross base legs into concrete if I can’t find pavers for it?
A: Yes. Use 3.5” concrete expansion bolts.
